After record setting seasons for both the Cowley College men and women’s soccer teams, four Lady Tiger sophomores signed with NCAA Division II schools and three more Tiger men signed letters of intent to continue their soccer careers at NAIA schools.
Following a record-setting season in which the team won 15 games and advanced to its first-ever District title match, the Cowley College women’s soccer team had seven players named to the all-conference list.
Battling back from a 2-0 deficit in its Region VI Championship game played Saturday at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS, the No. 9-ranked Cowley College women’s soccer team got a pair of second half goals from Marta Aranda to force overtime against No. 11-ranked Butler Community College. After a pair of scoreless overtime sessions, the Lady Grizzlies would get past Cowley 3-2 on penalty kicks.
The No. 9-ranked Cowley College soccer team continues to show the depth of its squad as they had four players score in a 4-0 win over Coffeyville in the Second Round of the Midwest District Playoffs held Thursday at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS.
The No. 12-ranked Cowley College women’s soccer team avenged its only loss of the season by knocking off 18th-ranked Barton Community College 3-1 Saturday in Arkansas City.
The Cowley College women’s soccer team scored three goals in the final 23 minutes of its season-opening game at Allen Community College on Saturday as they pulled away to defeat the Lady Red Devils 4-0.
With a solid blend of returning athletes and new players entering the program, the Cowley College women’s soccer team hopes to take another step in its process of being a national contender.
