Named a First Team All-Conference performer and the Jayhawk East Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman, Cowley College sophomore soccer player Harlie Findley recently signed a letter of intent with NAIA school Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, OK.
Findley, who came to Cowley from Oolagah, OK, is known as one of the hardest workers on the Lady Tiger squad.
"Southwestern Christian University without a doubt is gaining a fantastic addition to their team," Cowley assistant coach Tanner Brock said. "Harlie is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete. She has been a key player to the success that we have had, and we cannot thank her enough for all her hard work and dedication to this program."
As a freshman at Cowley, she helped the Lady Tigers finish the 2019 season with a record of 14-4. The 14 wins were the most in the history of the program. Cowley also captured its first-ever conference title and won its first-ever playoff game during the 2019 season.
"It has been great to play with people from all over the world," Findley said. "I have made a lot of friends at Cowley and the teachers have been great."
The Kinesiology major will be joining her sister, Kiersten, at Southwestern Christian as Kiersten is a member of the school's cheer squad.
"I want to continue to get better and advance my knowledge of the game at Southwestern Christian," Findley said.
Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said it has been a pleasure to work with Findley.
"She embraced Cowley College and her soccer passion with lots of dedication and sacrifice," Dos Santos said. "She is leaving a positive legacy in our program and I am very excited for her next phase as a student-athlete."
The Cowley College women's soccer team will open its season on April 2. It will have been nearly 16 months since the last time the team played a competitive game.
"I want to show Tanner and Roberto I am the same player I was as my freshman year," Findley said.
