The Cowley College track and field teams wrapped up their visit to Hobbs, NM, for the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals Championships, with both teams finishing inside the top 15. The Tiger men placed ninth, and the Lady Tigers finished 13th.
Led by Cowley College sophomore Treavor Green capturing the national title in the men’s hammer throw and fellow sophomore Kayla McClellan finishing as the national runner-up in the women’s hammer throw event, the Tiger men and women’s track and field teams got off to tremendous starts at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held Thursday in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Taking part in its final competition leading up to this weekend’s Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Outdoor Championships, the Cowley College men’s and women’s track and field teams had several individuals establish personal bests at the Mike Kirkland Southwestern College Relays held Saturday in Winfield, KS.
With the Region/Conference Championships approaching in two weeks, the No. 9-ranked Cowley College men’s and women’s track and field teams had athletes competing this past weekend at the Coyote Distance Carnival at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, the John Jacobs Invitational held at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK, and at the Cloud County Thunderbird Classic in Concordia.
Led by freshman Isabella Kupka advancing to the finals in three events, the Cowley College women’s and men’s outdoor track and field teams competed Thursday through Saturday at the KU Relays in Lawrence, KS.
With more than 900 athletes competing at the Friends University Spring Invitational held Thursday through Saturday, the Cowley College track and field teams had some solid performances.
Honoring the legacy of Hall of Fame track and field coach Mark A. Phillips, Cowley College hosted 10 teams at the Mark A. Phillips Invite Saturday in Arkansas City at the Mark A. Phillips Track and Field Complex.

The Cowley College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams had strong representation at the Herm Wilson Invite held Friday and Saturday at Wichita State University. With close to 40 Tiger athletes competing on the weekend, the squads put together some solid performances.
There was no need for Cowley College sophomore Diego Andres-Dougan to bust the rust while competing Saturday at the Washburn University Rust Buster as Andres-Dougan appeared to be in mid-season form while breaking his school record in the 60-meter hurdles.
