Finishing just behind Fort Scott Community College in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division, the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams placed second in the conference and fourth in the region at the Jayhawk Conference/Region Championships held Thursday through Saturday in Arkansas City, KS.
With both the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams ranked in the top-10, the Tiger track and field teams got record breaking performances at the Wichita State University K.T. Woodman Classic.
The No. 7-ranked Cowley College men’s track and field team and No. 9-ranked Cowley College women’s squad combined to break three school records over the weekend while competing at Friends University and Wichita State University.
A pair of men and two women from the Cowley College track and field teams recently signed to compete at NCAA Division II programs. Those signing were, Tiger men’s track and field athletes Sam Giles and Javyn Contreras, and Lady Tiger athletes Zinara Lesley and Megan Reynolds.
With sophomore Adrian Diaz-Lopez being the national champion in the 3,000-meter run and Lubna Suied earning All-American honors in three events, the Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams garnered top-10 finishes at the NJCAA National Indoor Championship held Friday and Saturday in Pittsburg, KS.
The No. 6-ranked Cowley College men and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at Washburn University on Friday, February 12th.
Going up against other schools in the state of Kansas, the Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams opened the indoor season by taking a small group of athletes to compete at the Washburn University All-Kansas Invite Saturday in Topeka, KS.
