Cowley volleyball continues to bolster roster with signing of Serbian middle hitter
The top-ranked Cowley College volleyball team has announced the addition of middle hitter Marija Andelkovic from Belgrade, Serbia, to begin her college career in the fall of 2026.
Andelkovic, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter, prepped at Eighth Belgrade Gimnasium in Belgrade, Serbia. She began playing for the Volleyland Volleyball Club from 2017-2026, where she played middle hitter. In 2021, she was invited to participate in the Sports Camp Karatas (the incubator for the Serbian national team). In the 2023-24 season, she led her team to a third-place finish in the regional senior league. In 2025-26, she led her team to a second-place finish in the regional senior league. She now comes to Cowley with much experience and works to continue the long tradition of strong middles in Cowley Volleyball history.
"Marija is an outstanding player who will bring a strong middle presence to our program with her athleticism, court awareness, court vision, and timing to our front row offense and defense." Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "Marija is a strong and aggressive middle who puts up a solid block and can attack opponents with a variety of sets. These attributes are perfect for our style of play at Cowley. She has played high-level volleyball in Serbia, and we look for her to bring that experience and grow in the college game. We are excited to have her as a part of our program at Cowley."
Andelkovic is the daughter of Nenad Andjelkovic and Dragana Vasic of Belgrade, Serbia.
