Darvas, Jaccard garner NJCAA All-American honors
Helping the Cowley College volleyball team to 32 wins and a fourth-place national finish, the Cowley College volleyball team had sophomores Hanna Darvas and Ashlynn Jaccard named to the NJCAA Division II All-Americans list.
Leading the way was Hanna Darvas, who was named a First Team All-American for the second straight season.
Darvas came to Cowley with great talent and experience, having played at a high level in Hungary. She finished her freshman season with an incredible 1,440 assists and 312 digs. Darvas followed that up with 1,318 assists and 283 digs as a sophomore. She led the NJCAA Division II in assists per set.
After serving as a role player as a freshman, Jaccard took her game to another level as a sophomore. Jaccard finished with 277 kills, 128 digs, and a team-high 75 service aces. Her hitting percentage of .518 was tops in the NJCAA Division II.
Cowley head volleyball coach Steven Gream was proud to have Darvas and Jaccard receive the All-American honors.
"It is such a joy to see these quality athletes be recognized among the many talented athletes in the NJCAA and even our tough conference," Gream said. "Both of them put in the work all season to improve each day, and they would each say they could not have earned this honor without their teammates. They and their teammates worked so hard this year, and these honors are a testament to a total 'Team First' attitude where each player worked for and played for each other."
The selections brought Cowley's total All-American award count to 50 honors spread across 36 players. It marks the 22nd straight season with an All-American selection for the program.
