Lady Tiger volleyball team wraps up regular season with easy win at Friends University
With the District Tournament looming on Wednesday, the No. 4-ranked Cowley College volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 25-16, 25-9, 25-19 win at Friends University on Friday.
The Lady Tigers are 28-4 heading into postseason play.
"We traveled to Friends University to get some final work in to prepare for the playoffs," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "This allowed us to work on some things and prepare all of our players for the postseason with some extra touches."
Sophomore Josci Buckley led Cowley with 11 kills, while freshmen Lana Gomilanovic and Teo Cekan added 10 and eight kills, respectively. Sophomore Ashlynn Jaccard also played well, finishing with seven kills and a .700 hitting percentage.
Freshman Sydney Dunkleberger played the final two sets and led Cowley with 25 assists.
The Lady Tigers earned the second-seed in the District Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Allen Community College (18-12) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Cowley defeated Allen in straight sets on October 29
"We have played all season long to prepare for the postseason, and now it is time to put that preparation into action," Gream said. "We played Allen County last week, so we know they will be making some adjustments, and we need to be as prepared as we can be for those adjustments."
