Volleyball bolsters roster with signing of outside hitter
The back-to-back national champion Cowley College volleyball program has signed Lana Gomilanovic from Belgrade, Serbia, to begin her college career in the fall of 2025.
The back-to-back national champion Cowley College volleyball program has signed Lana Gomilanovic from Belgrade, Serbia, to begin her college career in the fall of 2025.
Gomilanovic, a 6-foot outside hitter, prepped at the International School Belgrade, where, including elementary school, she played four sports: volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track and field.
She began playing volleyball for the Volleytrend Volleyball Club from 2013 to 2018. In 2019, she joined the Partizan Volleyball Club, one of Serbia's biggest and strongest volleyball clubs, and has won numerous championships. She played for the U15 team, which finished first in the U15 League of Serbia. She served as team captain and played for the U17 team. They won Radnicki Tournament (U15). In 2020 and 2021, she continued to play for the Partizan volleyball club, won the Kragujevac Tournament (U17), and was named School Athlete of the Year.
In 2022, she then joined the Obilic volleyball club. That year, she debuted for the senior team (at 16), where her team earned promotion from Third to Second in the Women's Volleyball League of Serbia. She also played for the U19 team, won the Ludaja Cup Kikinda (U19), Ok Crnjanski tournament (Senior team), Kragujevac tournament (Senior team), and Obilic tournament third place (Senior team).
In 2023, she was named to the Central Serbia All-Star team, served as U19 team captain and Senior team co-captain, and was honored as the most utilized player across all the Obilic teams.
In 2024, she played her final club season for the Obilic volleyball club, where she again played for the Senior team and U19 team, won the Smederevo tournament (Senior team), and won the Obilic tournament second place (Senior team). She served as team co-captain for her U19 team and Senior team.
Off the court, she was named student psychology mentor, a member of the Student Parliament, named MUN best volunteer, and had a top 10 graduation score.
"Lana is an exciting player who will add a dominant presence to our offense and defense, placing fear in her opponents with her powerful attack and all-around abilities," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "She is such an impact player who can elevate a match with those abilities and confident play. Lana has played at a high level in the excellent volleyball programs in Serbia, and we look for her to bring that experience and grow in the college game. We are excited to have her as a part of our program at Cowley."
Gomilanovic is the daughter of Predrag and Mirjana Gomilanovic of Belgrade, Serbia.
