The Cowley College volleyball team has signed Anna Kiss from Szekesfehervar, Hungary, to begin her college career in the fall of 2022. On the Cowley roster, she rejoins fellow Hungarian and current Cowley volleyball player, Gyongyver Araczki, as a teammate. They were previously teammates in Hungary on the Hungarian national team.
Kiss, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, prepped at Lanczos Kornel Gimnazium in Szekesfehervar, Hungary. She began playing volleyball for Szekefehervat and then, in 2018, went to the UTE team. In 2019, she played for Mav Elore Akademia. In addition to playing for these clubs, she also played for the U16, U17, U19 Hungarian National teams. In 2018, her national team finished 12th in the European championship and finished third in the Mevza tournament. In 2019, her U21 team finished in first place in the Hungarian Championship, UTE.
"Anna is an exciting player who will add a dominant presence to our offense and defense causing problems for opponents with her powerful attack and all-around abilities. She is that 'five-tool' player who can play at a high level and elevate a match with those abilities," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "Anna has played at a high level in the best volleyball programs in Hungary and on the Hungarian national team and we look for her to bring that experience and grow in the college game. We are excited to have her as a part of our program at Cowley."
Kiss is the daughter of Csaba Kiss and Anna Megyimorecz of Szekesfehervar, Hungary.
