Bahner named AVCA Two-Year College Midwest Region Coach of the Year

Leading the Cowley College volleyball team to the program's first-ever national championship, Jenifer Bahner was recently named the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Two-Year College Midwest Region Coach of the Year.

After helping Cowley finish as the national runner-up in 2009 and place third at the national tournament in 2010, Bahner had the Lady Tigers at the top-spot in the national rankings throughout the 2011 season.

With Cowley's win over Oakland Community College (Mich.) in the title match, Bahner was also named the NJCAA Division II National Coach of the Year.

The Coach of the Year awards are something Bahner is happy to share with her team.

"Our players success allow me to have this great honor," Bahner said. "This is a product of how hard our girls worked this season."

The Lady Tigers finished the season on a 22-match win streak and a record of 38-2.

"The national championship is something that will forever unite the girls on the team," Bahner said.
