September 6, 2011
The Lady Tigers were able to get everyone on their roster playing time in the victory as they improved to 6-0 on the season.
"I like the fact that we have so many people contributing," Cowley head coach Jenifer Bahner said.
Sophomore middle hitter Goda Jankauskaite led Cowley with six kills, while Danika Maggard and Erin Lichter added five kills apiece. The trio combined for 16 kills and no hitting errors.
"We focused on minimizing our errors and I thought we did a better job on that," Bahner said. "We don't want to give the other team points, we want to make them earn it."
Running a six-two offense, where the team employs two setters, Emily Barto and Molley Scanlon finished with 16 and 11 assists, respectively. Shanna Seyfarth also played well and chipped in with a team-high 12 digs.
Cowley will now turn its focus to Wednesday night's conference opener vs. Neosho County. The home match for the Lady Tigers will be played at 6:30 p.m. Neosho County is 1-0 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division following a 25-23, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22 win over Coffeyville.
"Any time you step into conference play everyone wants to beat Cowley because of the success we have had, so we know we are going to get a good game from them," Bahner said. "It should be a good match and we are excited to start conference play at home."
