Burnham, Rono named KJCCC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
School-record performances from Cowley College’s Ke’Mauria Burnham and Hutchinson’s Mildred Rono have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for the pair after strong showings at the Washburn University Ichabod Invitational last week.

Burnham tied the Cowley College school record in the pole vault and finished third overall at the Washburn University Ichabod Invitational with a mark of 3.83 meters (12 ft. - 6.75 in.). The only athletes Burnham finished behind were from Wichita State University, as the freshman has a commanding six-inch lead over the next-closest NJCAA competitor on the NJCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field performance list this season.
Mildred Rono (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Hutchinson Community College freshman distance runner Mildred Rono continues her extraordinary freshman season by posting the nation's top time in the 3,000 meters on Saturday at the Washburn University Ichabod Invitational. Running the event for the first time this season, Rono posted a blistering time of 9 minutes, 26.89 seconds, winning the event by 24.55 seconds. In addition to winning the 3,000 meters on Saturday, Rono posted the number one time in the NJCAA in 2026 and broke the Blue Dragon school record. The time also broke the Ichabod Invitational and Washburn facility records.
