Facing other junior college tennis teams for the first time this season, the No. 4-ranked Cowley College women's tennis team dismantled all three ranked opponents they faced Friday through Sunday in Texas.
Cowley defeated third-ranked Tyler Junior College 8-1 before defeating No. 20-ranked Copiah-Lincoln 9-0 and sixth-ranked Collin College 9-0.
"The entire team performed well, and I am happy with the results," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said.
"We had a really good match at Tyler with Serena (Pereyra) and Mollie (Edge) beating the number one-ranked doubles team in the nation," Miasato said. "Serena also beat the number 1 ranked singles player."
Cowley dropped only one set in the 9-0 wins over Copiah-Lincoln and Collin College.
"We started strong, and we finished strong," Miasato said. "Some of the girls were a little bit tired that final match, but we fought until the end."
The Lady Tigers will play at NCAA Division II Midwestern State University on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Wichita Falls, TX.
