Playing semifinal matches Tuesday at the NJCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship in Mesa, AZ, the Cowley College women’s tennis team advanced a singles player and doubles team to Wednesday’s championship matches.
Advancing five singles teams and a doubles team to the semifinals, the Cowley College women’s tennis team remains in fourth place after day three of the NJCAA Division I National Championships held in Mesa, Arizona. The Lady Tigers have 32 team points and are just four points behind current tournament leader Tyler Junior College (36 points).
The Cowley College women’s tennis team is only one-point out of first place at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held in Mesa, Arizona. The Lady Tigers have 26 team points and trail only Hillsborough, St. Petersburg, and Tyler Junior College, which are tied for first place with 27 points through the first two days of competition.
Cowley College sophomores Ane Ibarra and Andrea Rodriguez Oria, who are coming off solid freshman seasons and are vital members of the No. 5-ranked Lady Tiger tennis team, recently signed letters of intent to continue playing tennis at four-year schools.
The wait is over! After having its first five matches of the spring season either postponed or cancelled, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College women’s tennis team opened play with a 7-2 loss at NCAA Division II powerhouse University of Central Oklahoma.
With eight sophomores on the roster, the Cowley College women’s tennis team hopes its experience will help the squad achieve great things during the 2021 season.
