Lady Tiger soccer team erupts for 7-1 win at Coffeyville
Scoring a season-high seven goals on Wednesday at Coffeyville, the No. 6-ranked Cowley College women’s soccer team defeated the Red Ravens by a score of 7-1.
With the victory, the Lady Tigers remain unbeaten at 6-0-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. Coffeyville is now 2-9-1 and 1-6 in the conference.
Cowley was equally impressive in both halves as they raced out to a 5-0 halftime lead and tacked on two more second-half goals in the 7-1 win.
"I am happy with how we dominated the game," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said.
Lady Tigers' Saki Sanno, Sara Cortez, and Sarah Britzke scored two goals apiece, and Lilian Redeligx added Cowley's other goal. Along with her two goals, Sanno assisted on two goals.
"I love the diversity of options we have," dos Santos said.
After five straight shutouts, Cowley goalkeeper Jessica Suelly allowed her first goal since a 2-1 win at Hutchinson on September 10.
Cowley will return home to face Hutchinson on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Blue Dragons are 6-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.
"This will be the start of our second round of conference play, which will make things even tougher because everyone knows each other," dos Santos said.
