Sanno and Suelly named Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
For the first time this season, the Cowley College women’s soccer team has swept the weekly Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors after Tigers Saki Sanno and Julia Suelly each earned their first award of the year.
Saki Sanno (Cowley) – KJCCC D1 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Sano helped Cowley to a pair of KJCCC wins last week, netting one goal and one assist across matches against Barton and Dodge City. Opening the week against Barton, Sano broke open the scoring with a second-half goal in the 49th minute that proved to be the game-winner as the Tigers went on to pick up a 2-0 win. Sano added another point to her weekly total three days later against Dodge City, assisting on a second-half goal in the 70th minute that doubled Cowley's lead against the Conquistadors in an eventual 2-0 win. Sano has three goals and two assists across seven games this season, helping Cowley to an unbeaten record heading into October.
Julia Suelly (Cowley) – KJCCC D1 Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Suelly posted back-to-back shutouts last week, helping Cowley College remain unbeaten this season as the Tigers picked up 2-0 wins over Barton and Dodge City. Against the Cougars, Suelly turned away the only two shots that Barton put on goal, picking up her fourth-straight shutout. The freshman made it five-straight shutouts three days later against Dodge City as her shutout streak now spans nearly 470 minutes, dating back to September 10th.
