Tiger wrestlers shake off the rust at the Jet Open in Wichita
Back on the mat against live competition for the first time in 2026, the No. 11-ranked Cowley College wrestling team appeared to be in mid-season form while taking part in the Jet Open on Saturday at Newman University in Wichita, KS.
Going head-to-head against high-level NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA programs, the Tigers had several wrestlers place in the top four of their respective weight classes.
"We had a very good showing across the board," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said.
Cowley wrestlers Colt Collett (125 pounds) and David Sample (184 pounds) advanced to the finals before suffering medical forfeits. While fellow Tigers Cam Kiser (133 pounds) and Jaxon Trotter (285 pounds) also wrestled well before placing fourth.
Cowley will now prepare to compete at the NJCAA Coaches Dual on Saturday at 8 a.m. in Miami, OK.
"I like where we are headed into the national duals at Northeast Oklahoma this weekend," Circle said.
