Cowley places five wrestlers at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Open
Wrestling against several NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NAIA schools, the No. 6-ranked Cowley College wrestling team had five wrestlers place at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Open on Saturday in Kearney, NE.
Tiger wrestlers Canaan Brummett, Colt Collett, Evan Rodriguez, Jaxon "Scout" Trotter, and David Sample each went 5-1 and placed third in their respective weight classes and divisions.
"Tournaments like this are always good measuring sticks for us to see where we are at," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. "It was a hard tournament to get a medal at, so I was super proud of those guys who found a place on the podium."
Cowley's Louden Wolfe (133 pounds) and Dylan Reed (149 pounds) also competed at Nebraska-Kearney and went 2-2.
The Tigers will have some time off before competing at the Carl Albert State College Dual on Thursday, December 4, in Poteau, OK.
"We will use this time to rest up and prepare to face Carl Albert," Circle said. "They have a couple of returning All-Americans, so we hope to go down there and make a statement. I am happy with where we are at heading into this little break."
