Tigers win final home dual 28-18

In a battle of ranked teams, the No. 14-ranked Cowley College wrestling squad defeated No. 22-ranked Cloud County 28-18 on Wednesday inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.
The dual represented the final home match for Tiger sophomores Beau Murphy, Preston Lee, and Jacen Jackson. Cowley improves its record to 12-4 in duals with the win.
"I am glad we got out of here with a win, but we need to get back to the drawing board and fix some things," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. "I thought we came out flat from the top to the bottom."
Cowley's victories came from Cameron Kiser (133 pounds), top-ranked Evan Rodriguez (141 pounds), Shawn Bamba (149 pounds), Jacen Jackson (157 pounds), Dylan Reed (165 pounds), and Jacob Acedo (285 pounds).
After four straight home duals, Cowley will compete against No. 9-ranked Pratt and Colby in a tri-dual at 5 p.m. Thursday, February 6, in Pratt, KS.
"This will wrap up our conference play," Circle said. "We need to end this season off the right way and start preparing for the national qualifier."

*141 pounds – Evan Rodriguez (CC) defeated Daniel Vines (Cloud) 12-10.
*149 pounds – Shawn Bamba (CC) won by tech fall (17-2) over Noah Bailey (Cloud).
*157 pounds – Jacen Jackson (CC) won by fall over Jacob Vazsquez (Cloud).
*165 pounds – Dylan Reed (CC) won by forfeit.
*174 pounds – Mac Chambers (Cloud) won by tech fall (16-0) over Keenan Smith (CC).
*184 pounds - Micah Cauthers (Cloud) won by fall over Brannigan Reyes (CC).
*197 pounds – Darian Gillins (Cloud) defeated Chad Adams (CC) 12-4.
*285 pounds - Jacob Acedo (CC) defeated Jayden Berry (Cloud) 9-8.
