Pair of Tiger track and field athletes sign with OBU

Recent Cowley College graduates Matt Higdon and Caitlin Mannon have signed letters of intent to continue their education and track and field careers at NCAA Division II school Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK.

Higdon was ranked seventh in the nation and finished in the top-eight at this year's outdoor national meet, where he garnered All-American honors in the hammer throw.

"Matt has developed into quite a hammer thrower," Cowley throws coach Glenwood Edwards said. "As his coach, I am very pleased with his growth as a student-athlete and I believe he will continue to make huge advancements at the next level. I truly look forward to watching from a distance as he makes his mark on the throwing world."

Mannon was also a top competitor in the women's hammer despite dealing with a multitude of injuries and setbacks over the last two years.

"I fully expect her to make a large splash at OBU," Edwards said. "She has the ability to be a national competitor and an all-time top scorer for the Bison. I cannot wait for her to make her comeback and have the impact on the throwing world that she's capable of."

Coach Edwards is eager to watch both Higdon and Mannon as they compete at Oklahoma Baptist.

"I would like to thank coach Ford Mastin for giving them both the opportunity to continue their education, throw careers and make a lasting impact on the Bison team," Edwards said.
