Finishing just behind Fort Scott Community College in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division, the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams placed second in the conference and fourth in the region at the Jayhawk Conference/Region Championships held Thursday through Saturday in Arkansas City, KS.
With both the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams ranked in the top-10, the Tiger track and field teams got record breaking performances at the Wichita State University K.T. Woodman Classic.
The No. 7-ranked Cowley College men’s track and field team and No. 9-ranked Cowley College women’s squad combined to break three school records over the weekend while competing at Friends University and Wichita State University.
Hosting the Tiger Heptathlon/Decathlon March 31-April 1 in Arkansas City, the nationally ranked Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams were well represented. Although their were not many schools at the meet, Cowley got solid performances from its five athletes that competed.
Holding the 18th annual Tiger Invite Saturday in Arkansas City, the Cowley College men and women’s outdoor track and field teams had four national qualifiers.
In his final season as head coach of the Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams, Mark Phillips is leaving coaching on top as he helped guide the Tiger men to its first Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division Indoor Championship in eight years. For his efforts at the Conference/Region Indoor Championships held Saturday and Sunday in Pittsburg, KS, Phillips was named the Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year.
The No. 6-ranked Cowley College men and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at Washburn University on Friday, February 12th.
With both Cowley College’s men and women’s indoor track and field teams currently ranked sixth in the latest poll, the teams hosted four other Jayhawk Conference schools in a meet in Arkansas City on Saturday.
