Tiger tennis team in fourth place entering final day of national tournament
It was a tough day on the tennis courts for the Cowley College men’s tennis team during day three of the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Tennis National Championships in Plano, TX. The Tigers’ three doubles teams lost their semifinal matches, and sophomore Dan Hosono was the lone singles player to win on Wednesday and will play for the individual national title at No. 2 singles on Thursday.
Jayhawk Conference foe Pratt Community College is in first place with 31.5 points, Tyler Junior College is second with 30 points, while Eastern Florida (24.5 points) and Cowley (24 points) are in a heated battle for third place.
All three Tiger doubles teams lost semifinal matches against competitors from tournament leader Pratt Community College.
Hosono defeated Weatherford College's Santiago Hildalgo in three sets and will face Tyler Junior College's Willem De Waal in the finals.
