Tiger men’s tennis team takes on NCAA Division 1 Oral Roberts
One day after facing Midwestern State University, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College men’s tennis team traveled to Tulsa, OK, on Sunday to take on Oral Roberts University. The Tigers lost 6-1 but earned wins at No. 2 singles and doubles.
"The boys fought hard throughout the day," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said. "Coming off a tough match against Midwestern State on Saturday, it was never going to be easy, but the guys showed great resilience and gave everything they had."
Cowley sophomore Dan Hosono improved his record to 2-1 at No. 2 singles with a 7-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Oral Roberts' senior Parv Nage.
"Dan delivered another outstanding performance, winning both of his singles matches this weekend," Miasato said.
The Tigers' No. 2 doubles team of freshmen Luca Laurindo and Wojciech Biela was also victorious, 7-6, 7-5, in their match against the Eagles' Cayden Cheek and Pijus Reklevicius. Laurindo and Biela also performed well in singles play before losing their respective matches in three sets.
Cowley will play at NCAA Division II Cameron University on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lawton, OK.
"I am excited to see how the guys compete against Cameron," Miasato said.
