Tiger tennis teams take down nationally ranked Barton

Before the match, the Tiger men's and women's tennis teams honored the sophomores.
The No. 4-ranked Lady Tigers won for the sixth time in their past seven matches by easily defeating a short-handed Barton squad 9-0. The Cougars entered the match ranked 13th nationally.
"The girls did a really good job, and the whole team played well," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said. "Sophomores Serena (Pereyra) and Akari (Tomoyose) did really well in singles and doubles. I am happy to see that we have a consistent team."
After a 5-4 loss at region foe Pratt, the Tiger men's tennis team has strung together back-to-back wins against ranked opponents. On Tuesday, Cowley defeated No. 8-ranked Barton 7-2.
"It was great for us to come back after the loss last week," Miasato said. "I am proud of the way we fought against Barton. Dan (Hosono), Juwan (Bae), and David (De Hoyo Rodriguez) had great singles and doubles matches."
Sophomores on the men's team are Miguel Vieira, Guilherme Coelho, Valentin Greco, and Pedro De La Riva.
The Tiger tennis teams will play their third straight home match on Friday at 1 p.m. when they host Seward County in Arkansas City. The Lady Saints are ranked fifth nationally, and the Seward men are ranked sixth.
