Tiger tennis teams beat ranked Barton squads

The top-ranked Tiger men defeated sixth-ranked Barton 6-3, while the fourth-ranked Lady Tigers throttled the 11th-ranked Cougars 9-0.
The Tiger men won two of three doubles matches before taking four of six singles matches. Takeshi Taco and Andoni Garmendia each picked up wins in singles and doubles as Cowley improved its record to 8-2 on the season.
"Once again we played with very tough conditions, but somehow we pulled it off against a tough Barton men's team," Cowley assistant coach Arianna Raga said.
The Lady Tigers got wins from each player in its lineup and dropped just one set on the day as they won their second straight match.
"The ladies took care of business in doubles and carried on that mentality and intensity into singles play," Raga said.
The Tiger men's tennis team will host 11th-ranked Pratt Community College Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Arkansas City High School tennis courts.
"We need to keep improving at a rapid pace if we want to have a chance to compete for a regional championship in a couple of weeks in Wichita," Raga said.
