Tiger tennis teams pick up 8-1 wins at nationally ranked Collin College

Facing top-10 teams at Collin College Saturday in McKinney, TX, the Cowley College men and women's tennis teams gave strong performances in a pair of 8-1 wins over the Cougars.

The top-ranked Tiger men's tennis team won all three doubles matches and five of six singles contests against the fifth-ranked Cougars to improve its record to 7-2 on the season.

The Lady Tigers, ranked fourth, easily defeated eighth-ranked Collin thanks to win from all three doubles teams and its top-five singles players.

"The conditions were very tough with high winds, but both the men and women's teams were able to come out with the win," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said. "Overall, it was a great performance from everyone."

After the match with Collin, both Tiger tennis teams went on to play at the Southwest JUCO Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

"Many of the top ranked schools were playing, so it was a good opportunity for us to see what we will be up against at the national tournament," Raga said. 

The Cowley tennis teams will play at nationally ranked Barton County Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Great Bend, KS.
