Cowley Soccer sweeps NJCAA Women's and Men's Player of the Week award
Leading the Cowley College soccer teams to wins that clinched Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference D1 soccer regular season titles, Tiger players Saki Sanno and Kanta Ishii have each earned NJCAA D1 Soccer Week 9 Player of the Week honors.
Saki Sanno (Cowley) – NJCAA D1 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Sanno contributed nine total points for Cowley last week, helping the Tigers clinch the KJCCC D1 women's soccer regular season title with wins over Dodge City and Coffeyville. Across the two games, Sanno scored three goals and assisted on three additional goals, having a hand in six of Cowley's 10 goals last week. The freshman ranks in the top five in the KJCCC in goals (10), assists (10), and points (30), and has had at least one point in 11 of the last 13 games for the Tigers.
Kanta Ishii (Cowley) – NJCAA D1 Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ishii had a pair of multi-goal performances to lift number five to a 2-0-0 week last week to secure at least a share of the KJCCC D1 Men's Soccer regular season title. Scoring the opening goal of the game on a penalty kick at number 12 Dodge City, Ishii also scored the third and final goal for the Tigers in a 3-1 win before going on to score twice more in a 5-0 shutout of Coffeyville. This season, Ishii has 11 goals in 12 games this season and is second in the KJCCC in both goals and points (28).
