Ishii named Player of the Week for the third time this season
Wins last week for NJCAA Division 1 men’s soccer ranked teams Cowley College and Dodge City Community College have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Division 1 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for Tiger forward Kanta Ishii and Conquistador goalkeeper Rensho Ishikawa.
Kanta Ishii (Cowley) – KJCCC D1 Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ishii scored both goals for Cowley College in a 2-0 home win over Seward County in the Tigers' lone game of the week. Opening the scoring with a goal in the 26th minute, Ishii went on to add a goal in the 51st minute to give Cowley a multi-goal lead in the eventual shutout win. This season, Ishii has seven goals and six assists in nine games, with three of his goals proving to be game-winning goals.
Rensho Ishikawa (Dodge City) – KJCCC D1 Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Dodge City picked up a big win over the number nine-ranked Indian Hills in a neutral-site contest with a 2-1 victory. Rensho Ishikawa played all 90 minutes in goal and made five critical saves to help the Conquistadors earn the upset victory. The win for Ishikawa in net moves his goalie record this year to 3-0-1, with 21 saves in 26 shots on goal.
