Ishii and Lowry named Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for the second time this season
After leading Cowley College to a pair of wins over top 15 teams last week, Tiger soccer players Kanta Ishii and Lukas Lowry have each earned their second Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors in the 2025 season.
Kanta Ishii (Cowley) – KJCCC D1 Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ishii had a massive week in helping keep the number four-ranked Tigers unbeaten as Cowley defeated number nine Barton and number 12 Dodge City in a pair of ranked KJCCC matchups. Against the Cougars, Ishii assisted on the game-tying goal just 50 seconds into the second half to help Cowley pull even as the Tigers went on to score a game-winning goal with just under 20 minutes remaining. Three days later, against Dodge City, Ishii scored one goal in each half as the Tigers went on to put away a 4-0 victory to improve to 6-0-0 on the season. This year, Ishii ranks fourth in the KJCCC in goals (5), leads the KJCCC in assists (6), and is second in the KJCCC in points (16).
Lukas Lowry (Cowley) – KJCCC D1 Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Lowry was solid between the pipes for Cowley last week against two ranked opponents, helping the Tigers go 2-0 in KJCCC play with wins over number nine Barton and number 12 Dodge City. After allowing an own goal to Barton just before halftime, Lowry turned away the only shot on goal in the second half as Cowley came back to earn a 2-1 win in a battle of top 10 teams. Facing his second-straight ranked opponent three days later, Lowry made five saves to post his third shutout of the season as Cowley has allowed a total of two goals in six matches this year.
