Helping turn around the fortunes of the Cowley College men's and women's soccer teams, assistant coach Tanner Brock is saying goodbye to the school after an incredible five-year run.
Brock recently left Cowley to become a part of the coaching staff of Sporting City West, a youth soccer club of Sporting Kansas City.
The Lady Tiger soccer program had four consecutive losing seasons before Brock's arrival, while the men's team was still in search of its first-ever national tournament appearance.
With Brock assisting Cowley men's head coach Ruy Vaz, the Tigers would go 81-14-2 with four conference titles, three district titles, and three national tournament appearances during their five years together.
Brock also assisted Lady Tiger head soccer coach Roberto dos Santos and helped the Cowley women go 51-26-6 and capture three conference titles.
"Tanner was key in rebuilding both soccer programs," Vaz said. "He poured his heart and soul into both teams and in five years, I didn't hear a single negative comment about him. He is extremely talented, a top coach, but most importantly, a great man, father, and husband. We already miss him, but at the same time, we are extremely happy that he is working with such an important organization as Sporting Kansas City."
Sporting Kansas City West's competitive program and curriculum are aligned with the Sporting Kansas City First Team and Academy, providing a pathway for its players to advance to the next level.
