Jackson named KBCA Two-Year College Men’s Coach of the Year
After leading Cowley College to its first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference regular season title and NJCAA Region 6 Tournament Championship since 2021, Donnie Jackson was recently named the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Two-Year College Men’s Coach of the Year during the KBCA All-Star Game in Salina.
Jackson led the Tigers to a record of 30-5 and an appearance in the Elite Eight at the NJCAA Division 1 National Basketball Championships. Cowley earned the number two overall seed in the National Tournament and was consistently ranked in the top 10 of the NJCAA Division 1 men's basketball top 25 poll while ranking in the top three in the conference in field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, assists per game, steals per game, blocks per game, and points per game allowed.
"Thank you to the KBCA and Randy Walling for having me up to Salina to watch the KBCA All-Star game and present me with the Two-Year KBCA Coach of the Year Award," Jackson said. "This isn't possible without a great assistant (Reggie Scurry), great administrators (Jeff Fluty), and great players. It's truly a team effort, and I am appreciative of the honor to represent the Cowley community."
