High level of basketball on display at Team Camp
Area high school basketball teams had an opportunity to showcase their talent while getting in some summer work during the Cowley College and Ark City High School Basketball Boys Team Camp on June 10-11.
Games were played inside Cowley's W.S. Scott Auditorium and Arkansas City High School.
Day one featured a local flavor with Ark City and Winfield High School among the teams competing.
"It is always good to take a sneak peek at some of the local talent coming up," Cowley head men's basketball coach Donnie Jackson said. "I really enjoyed this year's team camp. We had some good teams competing, and I was impressed with our turnout."
Tonkawa (OK) High School placed first out of four teams on day one. Ponca City (OK) High School finished second, while Winfield and Ark City placed third and fourth, respectively.
Day two featured several high-level Class 5A and 6A teams from both Kansas and Oklahoma.
"There was some high-level intensity and athletic plays," Jackson said.
Booker T Washington (OK) High School placed first out of four teams on day two. Putnam City North (OK) High School finished second, with Derby and Midwest City (OK) placing third and fourth.
"I am already looking forward to next summer's team camp," Jackson said.
