Bio

Brandon Burke is back for his sixth season as assistant coach of the Cowley College Spirit Squad, and his deep roots with the program run straight to the core of Tiger pride. Alongside Head Coach Gurnee, Coach Burke is part of an alumnus-led coaching duo that knows exactly what it takes to bring the energy—because they’ve both been in those same shoes.

Brandon first discovered his passion for the sport with the Newkirk Co-ed Cheer Squad in high school. That same competitive drive fueled a successful collegiate career at both Cowley College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Now, he’s coming full circle—leveraging his years of elite experience to coach, mentor, and inspire the next generation of Tiger cheerleaders.

Since returning to his alma mater, Brandon has partnered with Head Coach Gurnee to lead the Spirit Squad through an absolute golden era of dominance. Together, they have fast-tracked a wealth of regional and national accolades into the Tiger trophy case, including multiple Region VI Championships in Advanced Large Co-ed, Runner-up finishes at the DTU College Classic Nationals, and a DTU National Mascot title!

Brandon wears multiple hats for Cowley College; he’s also a vital leader in academic affairs as the Director of Dual Enrollment & Partnership, helping local high school students jumpstart their college careers.

When it's time to step away from his busy schedule, Brandon loves winding down with his family: his partner Andy, their son Eyzic, and their two famously named dogs, Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp.
