Smith drives in six in Tigers’ 15-4 win at Butler

Smith went 4-for-5 with a home run and six runs batted in, and the Tigers out-hit Butler 13-4. Cowley improves to 37-8, while Butler is now 24-22.
Freshman Kyler Zagar allowed only four hits and three runs in 4 2/3 innings to improve his record to 8-1. Chance Acord followed with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, and Jack Hamm retired the side in order in the seventh inning to finish the win.
Sophomore Brock Romero, who spent the previous season at Cowley, led Butler by going 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in. Grizzly starting pitcher Caden Hinther allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings to fall to 1-4 on the season.
Tiger sophomore Seth Dandridge reached base three times and scored three runs in the victory, while second baseman Logan Groh went 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.
The teams will play a doubleheader in Arkansas City on Saturday at 1 p.m.
