Zagar named Jayhawk East Pitcher of the Week

Cowley College freshman Kyler Zagar and Johnson County freshman Jeremy Comer took home Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Division baseball awards for Week 4. Zagar was named the Jayhawk East Pitcher of the Week, and Comer was named the Jayhawk East Player of the Week.

Zagar tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout in a 5-0 victory over Fort Scott to open a four-game series with the Greyhounds. Zagar allowed only a third-inning single while striking out nine and walking one as Cowley went on to sweep the four-game series against Fort Scott. This season, Zagar is 5-1 overall on the mound, with his lone loss coming to number 20-ranked McClennan, and has helped the number four-ranked Tigers to a 27-7 record.

Comer helped power the No. 12 ranked Cavaliers to a conference sweep over Labette last week. Comer hit at a .467 clip (7-for-15) with three doubles, a home run, a walk, four runs scored, and five RBI against the Cardinals.
