Cowley selects Athletes of the Month

With the spring sports season in full effect, Cowley College recently named its February and March Athletes of the Month.
For the month of February, men's track and field athlete Tanner Blackmore and women's basketball player Kedranea' Addison were named the February Male and Female Athletes of the Month. While, Tiger baseball pitcher Andrew Roach and Lady Tiger track and field runner Ieshia Dickerson were named the March Male and Female Athletes of the Month.
At Cowley Blackmore is a member of the nationally ranked Tiger track and field team, is a student ambassador, and is involved in Phi Theta Kappa, the International Student Organization, and the Reverb College Ministry. He is a returning All-American that ran as part of the outdoor conference champion 4x800-meter relay team that placed sixth at nationals. He was also the 2018 indoor conference champion in the 800-meter run and has ran the second fastest indoor 800-meter time in school history. He recently was named the 800-meter region champion and ran as part of the region champion 4x800-meter relay team. The business major has a grade point average of 3.64.
Leading the Cowley College women's basketball team in scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals, sophomore point guard Kedranea' Addison was named the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division Player of the Year. Addison averaged 17.3 points to go along with an average of 5.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. She helped Cowley to a record of 24-8 and a second place finish in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division. The business major has a GPA of 3.35.
Roach was named the Jayhawk East Pitcher of the Year as a freshman as he went 6-2 with a 3.94 earned run average. The right-hander struck out 65 batters and walked only eight in 64 innings pitched. He is off to a 2-1 start to the 2019 campaign and has signed early with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The sports management major has a 3.20 GPA.
Dickerson placed seventh in the indoor 1,000-meter run with a school record time of 3:04.16 during the 2018 track season, and earned All-American honors in the 1,000-meter run and indoor 4x800-meter relay. She was also named an All-American during the 2018 cross country season.
During the 2019 indoor track season she broke the women's school record in the mile run and was the conference champion in the event. She helped the Lady Tigers capture their third straight conference title and place ninth at the national championships by earning All-American honors in the mile run, 3,000-meter run, and as part of the distance medley relay team that finished as the national runner-up. The psychology major has a 2.96 GPA.
