Tigers pound Garden City 15-4

The No. 6-ranked Cowley College baseball team jumped all over Garden City Monday in Arkansas City as they defeated the Broncbusters 15-4.
Cowley hit two home runs and scored in every inning but the sixth as they improved to 8-4 on the season.
"It was a good day for our guys," Cowley head coach Dave Burroughs said.
Sophomore Andrew Roach (2-0) started on the mound for Cowley and retired all six batters he faced. Freshman Jack Carneal followed Roach on the mound and allowed only one hit over two scoreless innings of work as the Tigers led 9-0 after four innings of play
"Andrew has been really good and Jack came back and had a good outing," Burroughs said.
Garden City scored three runs off Tiger reliever Adam White in the top of the fifth inning to pull within 9-3. However, Cowley catcher Cody Milligan hit a triple to score Grady Davenport and then scored on a RBI single from Isaac Muncy to increase Cowley's lead to 11-3 in the bottom of the fifth.
Leading 11-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, shortstop Mac McCrosky belted a grand slam to finish off the run-rule win.
Milligan had three of Cowley's 15 hits, while Daniel DeSimone went 2-for-3 with his third home run of the season.
"Our guys had a good approach at the plate," Burroughs said.
Connery O'Donnelltook the loss for Garden City, lasting only two innings while giving up four runs.Malachi Cronedidn't fare much better, surrendering five runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. Garden City falls is now 12-3.
Cowley will host Butler Community College in a single game Thursday at 2 p.m. The Grizzlies are 7-2 on the season.
"It should be a good test for us," Burroughs said. "We need to keep working on being consistent."
