Pair of Tiger baseball players sign with NCAA Division I schools
July 6, 2018
Having helped lead the Cowley College baseball team to its second straight Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division title and a record of 45-11 during the 2018 season, freshman outfielder Alex Peterson and sophomore catcher Dalton Dinkel recently signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at NCAA Division I schools.
Peterson, whowas named an NJCAA First Team All-American, Jayhawk East Most Valuable Player and the Freshman of the Year, signed with the University of Missouri, while Dinkel, who was a First Team all-conference and Second Team all-region selection, signed with Louisiana Tech University.
Peterson broke Cowley's school-record for triples in a season (8) and finished only eight runs batted in shy of Garrett Benge's school-record of 96 RBIs. Along with leading the Tigers in triples and RBIs, Peterson also led Cowley in hits (97), doubles (16), stolen bases (23), batting average (.447), on base percentage (.525), and slugging percentage (.691).
He will join a Missouri squad that finished the 2018 season with a record of 34-22.
Dinkel put together two solid seasons for the Tigers. After batting .385 as a freshman, he batted .400 with six home runs and 50 RBIs as a sophomore.
Dinkel will look to add to a Louisiana Tech team that finished the 2018 season with a record of 39-20 overall and 22-11 in Conference USA.
