Alex Peterson named NJCAA First Team All-American
June 12, 2018
Putting together a dominant freshman campaign, Cowley College outfielder Alex Peterson was honored by the NJCAA as a First Team All-American.
Peterson, who was previously named the Jayhawk East Most Valuable Player and the Freshman of the Year, broke Cowley's school-record for triples in a season (8) and finished only eight runs batted in shy of Garrett Benge's school-record of 96 RBIs.
Along with leading the Tigers in triples and RBIs, Peterson also led Cowley in hits (97), doubles (16), stolen bases (23), batting average (.447), on base percentage (.525), and slugging percentage (.691).
Peterson was one of only three outfielders and three freshmen named a First Team All-American.
"He had a great year and we are excited to see what he does next year," Cowley head coach Dave Burroughs said. "He hit over .500 for almost three quarters of the season and chased the RBI record, so he is deserving of this recognition."
