Bio

Marcel Miasato begins his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Cowley College. Miasato is from Mogi Das Cruzes, Sao Paulo. Growing up, Miasato had the opportunity to play in several international tournaments in South America, as well as the Orange Bowl and Eddie Herr International Championship in Florida.

He started his collegiate career at Barton Community College, where he played for two years (2015-2018). He then transferred to NCAA Division II Newman University (2018-2020), where the Jets reached the Heartland Conference Finals in 2018.

Miasato graduated from Newman with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration before becoming a volunteer assistant coach at the school from 2021-2023. He also served as the director of juniors at Genesis Health Clubs in 2022 and 2023, where he developed multiple players who ended up playing at the NCAA Division 1 and Division II levels.

In his first season at Cowley, Miasato helped the Lady Tigers capture the region title and finish as the national runner-up. He also guided the Tiger men’s tennis team to a fifth-place finish at the national tournament.
