Cowley College athletics finishes sixth in 2025-2026 Ron Case Cup
Continuing its exceptional prowess on the playing fields, Cowley College was among three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools to finish in the top 10 of the 2025-26 Ron Case Cup presented by Daktronics Scholarship Division, recognizing overall program excellence in two-year colleges.
The competition, organized by the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), saw Barton Community College finish as the highest-KJCCC school, tied for second with the College of DuPage, both schools securing 167.5 total points. Both the Cougars and Chaparrals trailed only Ron Case Cup winner Iowa Western Community College, which won the Scholarship Division with 179 total points.
Following last year's eighth-place finish, Cowley College made a two-spot improvement to finish sixth this year with 145 total points, finishing ahead of seventh-place finisher and KJCCC member Hutchinson Community College, which finished with 138.5 points.
"Finishing sixth nationally in the NATYCAA Ron Case Cup is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of the championship-level culture that exists at Cowley College," Cowley athletic director Jeff Fluty said. "This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional coaching staff and the hard work, commitment, and competitive excellence displayed by our student-athletes throughout the 2025-26 athletic season. Our success across multiple sports demonstrates the pride, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence that define the Tiger Way. I am incredibly proud of everyone. Go Tigers!
Other KJCCC member schools recognized for finishing in the top 30 of the Scholarship Division include Butler, which placed 12th (100.5 points), and Johnson County, which scored 78 total points to finish 21st.
Colleges in each division may use their top five finishes per gender at their highest level of competition to earn points for the Ron Case Cup presented by Daktronics. The champions of each competition score 20 points, second place scores 19, third place scores 18, and so on.
This is the eighth year that Daktronics has sponsored this award in conjunction with NATYCAA. The award was renamed during the 2024-25 season to the Ron Case Cup in honor of former NATYCAA president Ron Case (1999-2000), who served as Director of Athletics at Rowan College at Gloucester County for 25 years and stewarded the Cup program from its inception in 2004 through June 2024.
