Tiger athletics shine in 2024-25 academic year
In what was a banner year for Cowley College athletics, the Tiger sports programs captured eight KJCCC conference championships, seven KJCCC Region 6 titles, two NJCAA national runner-up finishes, and one NJCAA national championship.
Cowley College athletic director Jeff Fluty said the 2024-2025 athletic year was defined by competitive excellence across every program.
"The dedication and hard work of our student-athletes and coaches have filled us with tremendous pride, truly representing the spirit of the Tiger Way," Fluty said. "We will continue to build on this pride of success and legacy."

Volleyball
Finished off a second straight storybook season, the top-seed Cowley College volleyball team defeated seventh-seed Johnson County in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Championship match in Cedar Rapids, IA. This marked the second straight unbeaten season for the Lady Tigers as they finished the season with a record of 40-0 and ran their NJCAA Division II record winning streak to 81 matches in a row.
Men's Cross Country
The Cowley College men's cross country team won the region title and placed eighth at the NJCAA Division II National Championships held in Richmond, VA.
Women's Cross Country
The Cowley College women's cross country team won the region title and placed eighth at the NJCAA Division II National Championships held in Richmond, VA.
Men's Soccer
Captured its fourth straight district title and advanced to its first-ever national title game before losing to Iowa Western on penalty kicks. They finished the season with a record of 16-2-4.
Women's Soccer
Won the region title and advanced to the national tournament for the second straight season. Cowley finished the season with a record of 11-7-3.
Men's Basketball
Winning 30 games for only the second time in the program's history, the second-seed Cowley College basketball team came within one point of advancing to the Final Four of the 2025 NJCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball National Tournament before losing to seventh-seed Trinity Valley 61-60. Cowley finished an incredible season with a record of 30-5. The sophomores won the second-most games in the program's history, with 58 victories over the past two seasons.
Women's Basketball
Finished strong by winning seven of its final eight regular-season games to win 21 games and earn the No. 5 seed in the Region Tournament.
Wrestling
Qualifying eight wrestlers to compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the Tiger wrestling team went on to place 18th nationally.
Women's Indoor Track and Field
With five conference champions and three region champs, the Cowley College women's track and field team repeated as conference champions at the Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Indoor Championships at Pittsburg State University. The Tigers placed 19th at the national championships in Lubbock, Texas.
Men's Indoor Track and Field
Led by sophomore Alex Delgado del Castillo, breaking the school record in the heptathlon, the Cowley College men's track and field team placed third in the conference and sixth in the region at the Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Indoor Championships at Pittsburg State University. The Tigers placed 22nd at the NJCAA Division 1 National Indoor Championships in Lubbock, TX.
Baseball
The Tigers finished ranked eighth in the final regular season baseball poll and finished the year with a record of 45-12. Cowley finished one game away from a conference title and advanced to the semifinals of the District Plains Tournament before losing.
Softball
Ranked No. 16 in the final NJCAA Division II Softball poll, the Lady Tigers won the conference title and finished just shy of a berth at the national tournament. Cowley finished the season with a record of 39-14.
Men's Tennis
The Tigers men's tennis finished second at the Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Championships in Pratt, KS. The team went on to compete at the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships May 12-16 in Florence, South Carolina, where they placed fifth and were led by freshman Juwan Bae, finishing as the national runner-up at No. 6 singles.
Women's Tennis
The Cowley College women's tennis team ran through the Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Championships in Pratt, KS, before finishing as the national runner-up at the NJCAA Division I Tennis Championships held May 3-7 in Tyler, TX. Sophomore Serena Pereyra, the national champion at No. 3 singles as a freshman, defeated Hillsborough's Catherine Goldman 6-1, 7-6 in the No. 1 singles title match. Cowley has now won a national championship and had two national runner-up finishes over the past three seasons, and has a chance to return everyone on the roster outside of Pereyra and Akari Tomoyose.
Women's Outdoor Track and Field
The Lady Tigers captured the outdoor conference title. They were then led by four All-Americans while placing 17th out of 37 schools that scored points at the national meet. Cowley women's All-Americans included Dakota Dapper (pole vault), Mercedes Glover (hammer), Cierra Gray (shot put), and Kennedy Kizarr (pole vault).
Men's Outdoor Track and Field
The Tiger men's outdoor track and field team placed second at the Jayhawk Conference Championships on May 1-3. The Tigers were led by All-American performances from Victor Morfin in the high jump and Dagen Geier in the decathlon as they placed 28th at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Cheer and Dance
The Cowley College spirit squad demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication at the 2025 Region VI Cheer & Dance Championships recently held in Newton, Kansas.
The Tigerettes showcased their versatility and skill by competing in both Hip-Hop and Pom categories, securing a commendable second-place finish in each.
The Cowley cheerleaders also delivered a stellar performance in the Advanced Large Coed division, earning a decisive first-place victory.
The Tigerettes competed at the prestigious Dance Team Union (DTU) National Championship in Orlando, Florida, April 12-13. The Tigerette dance team proudly clinched second place in the nation for Hip Hop and fourth place for Pom following a determined and dynamic performance at the national competition. With this impressive finish, the Tigerettes continue to raise the bar and represent their school and community with excellence on the national stage.
